We are looking for motivated students to study genome science and bioinformatics at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. UPR-M is one of the two largest campuses of the UPR university system, an U.S. - accredited institution with a large international faculty and a diverse student body. It is located in the west side of Puerto Rico, famous for diving, beaches and surfing. Spanish and English are equally used at the University curriculum, providing students with an opportunity to learn and communicate in both. Successful applicants will join and dynamic and quickly expanding team focusing on human and non-human population and comparative genomics.
We are looking for individuals with a background in bioinformatics and computer sciences, with experience in programming. The research will involve participation in "Puerto Rico Genotyping Project", "Puerto Rico Parrot Genome Project" and "Taino Genome Project" among others. Either a teaching or research assistantship will be awarded to the best of the applicants for the two years, then reevaluated based on performance.GRE scores are required, but not included in the evaluation.
